I have often found brooding hens sitting quietly for days in a secluded spot, waiting patiently for their chicks to hatch. This hen is parked under a coffee tree with ripe cherries and she may be interrupted at any moment by a coffee picker harvesting the crop. Moa is the Hawaiian word for chicken and, as seen on many bathroom doors in Hawai’i, wahine means woman.

Print Editions and my Take on Reproductions
Because printmakers produce an edition of original prints that are numbered, in the past, most artists who work in this medium have not offered giclees. However, with the rise of digital art I am committed to offering reproductions because I want to make a sustainable living through my art. Also, many more people can enjoy beautiful art in their homes because these reproductions are more affordable. For both of those reasons it makes me very happy to let go of this ancient tradition! I still honor the tradition by offering an image as a giclee print only after all of the original prints in that edition are sold out in my studio collection.
